The RMS Titanic and Cobh Co Cork (which was called Queenstown at the time as Ireland was still under english rule) are inextricably linked as Cobh was to be the R.M.S Titanic’s last port of call. The R.M.S Titanic anchored for a short time at Cobh to allow the final 123 passengers to board the R.M.S Titanic,of the 123 passengers who boarded at Cobh only 44 survived. The original harbour buildings, streets and piers of Cobh Harbour still remain and are well worth a visit, a poignant memorial to one of maritimes most notorious tragedies.
